Thanks to its manganese-based glaze, this late 18ᵗʰ century oil jug has a pretty chocolate hue.
Its pinched trefoil spout which marks its membership in the famous Quercy pottery is in perfect condition.
The handles are flattened, revealing the imprint of the fingers of the potter who fixed them on the jug’s body with a prolonged pressure.
Singular detail, one of the bands with finger impressions traced on the front takes the shape of an arrow. In general, theses vertical bands reinforce the deliberately rounded appearance of this jug.
