Made in the 18ᵗʰ century, this water jug comes from the famous Sadirac Gallo-Roman pottery workshop site in the Aquitaine region of France.
A cutting wheel was used to decorate this rough clay water jug. A little ribbon adds a pretty adornment beneath the “bec ponté”.
The front and back handles are a truly beautiful feature; they are positioned asymmetrically to make the jug easy to hold when pouring.
